Indian BPO to grow at 32%: IDC

BPO industry in India got a boost when German Auto making giant Daimler-Chrysler AG laid down plans to outsource auto components from India. The exports from 28 suppliers in India was about $65 million but this year the company intend to export components worth over $70 million.

There has been a large influx of multinational companies world-over shifting their BPO bases to India. Survey by research firm IDC estimates that jobs within the BPO industry in India will grow at the rate of 32%. At this rate there will 600,00 BPO jobs in India by 2007.

It’s worth mentioning few of the latest developments within the Indian BPO segment. CSC providing consultancy, systems integration and design, IT and business process outsourcing, applications services globally announced 600 new jobs in India by the year-end. Intel also planned to double its recruitment in India within three years time. Presently Intel has 1000 people recruited in India. Software major Oracle has also announced its plans to double staff strength to 6000 very soon.
