Indian BPO Workers Facing Death Threats

The latest news is that BPO workers in India have started receiving death threats from the Americans. Though latest surveys show that that outsourcing actually led to loss of only nine percent jobs in the U.S., there seems to be no end to the outsourcing row and with the coming U.S. elections, more and more Indian BPO workers have started getting threats from Americans. Call centre employees based in Noida, Gurgaon and even Pune are experiencing threatening calls.

But BPOs in India have inculcated a module during their two-month training to deal with such calls. Indian workers in U.S. are facing the brunt more severely than their Indian counterparts. It is interesting to note that only five percent of U.S. citizens possess the kind of higher education required for specialized jobs. Indian techies are equipped with the latest high tech programming languages and more so willing to work at half the salaries. The wage difference of Indian BPO workers is as high as 70-80 percent when compared to their Western counterparts. The other reasons which make outsourcing a great attraction are lower attrition rates and a better product- be it software or call quality.
