India at the top of the chart for BPO
India is not going to be dislodged from its supreme position in being the king of BPO destinations that soon. It will take some serious efforts from the rival destinations. Although countries like China and Philippines are posing a threat, India is still miles ahead of them in the race of being the top BPO destination.
In the field of BPO, China can put up a tough fight in the future and can dethrone India from its supremacy of the BPO throne in the future. It can do this with two advantages it has in the global Outsourcing market place, manufacturing and IT. The other advantage that China has is it has low manpower costs compared to India. And also that, its approach towards BPO sector is proactive. The only problem though it has, is the low percentage of its population speaking English and a less mature and relatively new BPO industry.
In regards to being the leader in the BPO game, India has a significant cost savings model with multiple competencies in various areas, an emerging technical infrastructure, highly rated skill pool with English language and extensive cultural fit and is a master in the game.
Though countries like Australia, Canada and Ireland are the other players in the BPO sector, they are not serious competitors to India due to a small population base. So although at the moment no other destination is up to the mark with India, It could face a few challenges in the race for the BPO glory.
