The Indian Promise!

Indian software and service exports registered more than 26% growth in the last fiscal amounting $9.5 billion. The BPO industry in India accumulated a sharing of $2.3 billion of this – depicting the steep rise of popularity outsourcing is gaining in India. BPO in India is now getting a firm hold on the grounds of strong infrastructure –India boasts. Though, IT exports are still the favorite in stock-market, the IT-enabled services are becoming the mainstream sector as more and more western corporate firms are heading India for outsourcing their business.

The major advantage (and the reason) to outsource work to India is the significant cost advantage that India provides compared to US. While more than three-fourth of the large US firms are outsourcing overseas the remaining are seriously considering to go offshore. In that case Indian BPO industry will be kept busy for some years to come. NASSCOM – the software & services principal body – estimates that by 2008 India will bolster $50 billion annual software export sector. The BPO Industry will be playing role in it as well.
