India world’s leading BPO service provider: Forbes
A major move in the BPO industry in India saw TATA Share Registry (TSRL) changing tracks from a share registrar of TATA group companies, to a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) player during last 10 months. With this shift TSRL, which was already working as a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) service provider in anonymity -have emerged as a full-fledged BPO service provider in India.
Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry (Assocham) recently conducted a BPO industry confidence survey to evaluate the potential of this industry in the future. Almost 70% of the respondent – mainly the top-notch executives from the Indian industry – favored a 40%-50% increase in the BPO industry in India for the fiscal 2003-04. Yet there were outright concerns from the upcoming countries in the same field. Mainly China, Russia, Ireland, South Africa, Brazil etc will be giving India a close run as the leader of outsourcing activities. Though many feels that India would remain as the hot favorite as BPO service provider in the near future.
Business Process Outsourcing in India remains Venture Capitalist favorite investment source. Recently there were several moves in the Indian Business Sector that benchmarked the Indian dominance in the BPO segment. India is presently the world's leading destination for IT-enabled Business Process Outsourcing (BPO): the lion's share of U.S. outsourcing business goes to this country, says Forbes, a U.S. business magazine.
