Bharti, TeleTech holdings: form BPO Joint Venture

Everybody is out to milk the outsourcing cow. And they are trying to achieve it by different means. Now Bharti has decided to do it through the means of a Joint Venture. It has gone in for a BPO alliance with the U.S. based TeleTech holdings. The said company is a leading player in the U.S., which offers back-end services worldwide. Both parties hold an equal share in the Joint venture.

This move stamps India's authority in the field of outsourcing. As of now India is the preferred destination for outsourcing or overseas off shoring. According to a survey conducted by Gartner, 90% of the CEO's in the U.S. gave a thumbs-up to India as being their first choice for outsourcing. On the issue of concern among the unions and government officials over the constant job-losses to countries like India etc, company officials said that, the work would definitely be outsourced to destinations, where the work is efficient and cost-effective. And if workers in the US are willing to do that, the work would stay here itself, otherwise would move to countries like India, China or Philippines where the workers are able and willing to work effectively and efficiently. Besides that, officials also said that, in certain parts of the developed world, skilled professionals were not available to work in the BPO sector.

Officials from both the parties are very optimistic of tasting success in the venture. With this venture TeleTech holdings, could well be on their way to becoming one of the largest BPO companies in the country. Mr.Mittal of Bharti ltd said that, "BPO sector offers tremendous job opportunities for the youth and in fact, for around million people involved in the BPO, working at least $10 an hour, could earn India a total revenue of $25 million". It is also felt among the industry leaders that India should aggressively fight for the jobs at global level, not let any hindrances to be erected in its path and should net let go of its competitive advantage.
